Lokomotywa EP09 to polska elektryczna lokomotywa pasażerska zaprojektowana do prowadzenia pociągów ekspresowych z dużą prędkością. Produkowana na przełomie lat 80. i 90. we wrocławskich zakładach Pafawag, była pierwszą lokomotywą polskiej konstrukcji zdolną do prowadzenia pociągów ze stałą prędkością 160km/h. Wyposażona była w nowoczesne jak na swoje czasy rozwiązania techniczne, takie jak hamulec elektrodynamiczny czy impulsowe sterowanie rozruchem oporowym. Do dzisiaj lokomotywy tej serii przemierzają polskie szlaki kolejowe, będąc jedną z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych lokomotyw pospiesznych w Polsce.

The EP09 locomotive is a Polish electric passanger locomotive designed for hauling express trains at high speeds. Manufactured in the late 1980s and early 1990s at the Pafawag works in Wrocław, it was the first Polish locomotive capable of maintaining a constant speed of 160km/h. It utilized advanced technical solutions for its time, such as a dynamic brake and pulse-controlled resistor engine starting. To this day, locomotives of this series continue to operate on Polish railway lines, remaining one of the most recognizable express locomotives in Poland.
